
A disciple is not just a student. A student can learn and gain much knowledge about the Bible and God but if there is no godly transformation in the student’s thinking, speech, behaviour and actions, then the student is not yet a disciple.
A disciple on the other hand:
- learns from a Master;
- is devoted to the Master and the Master’s teachings; and
- strives to becomes like the Master.
The Master is our Lord Jesus Christ.
For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.
Book of Acts 11:26
From the text above, we learn that those who were called Christians in the 1st century A.D. were first and foremost disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
