Origin of Mankind

Genesis 1:27 And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Genesis 2:7 Then Yahweh God formed man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and so the man became a living soul.

Have you ever wondered how the human race came about? Why do we even exist? Or is there any real purpose or meaning to life? Is our life and time on earth all there is to life? Are we to run this short dash called “life” as best we can and then die? If that is all there is to life… then ultimately it is meaningless if death is the final answer to everything.

The Bible tells us that God created both man and woman on the sixth day of creation. He created them for a purpose!

Our First Parents

Genesis 1
27 So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
    male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

Genesis 1 of the Bible provides a general overview of creation from God’s own Words.

Contrary to secular evolutionary theory, humans did NOT evolve from a single cell to to become a complex clump of cells. It has only been in the last two decades that scientists have discovered the incredible complexity and functioning of just a single cell. The complex DNA within each person, is a set of instructions that determine the colour of our skin, hair, eyes, attributes. These sets of instructions can only come from a highly creative and intelligent mind that today’s scientists are only discovering.

The evidence that we are created beings far outweigh the evolutionary theories that have been pushed into the minds of young children by the secular education system.

Can we trust that the Creator’s testimony?

Genesis 2 provides a more detailed account of how the first man (Hebrew: Adam) was formed an how life was infused into Adam.

The making of MAN – Adam

7 Then Yahweh God formed man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and so the man became a living being. 

The creation of the Adam was very different to the rest of creation. The entire universe and its creatures were called into existence with a command from God – except for man. Man was formed / fashioned / crafted from the earth with God’s own hands, and for this to happen, God had to take on a physical form (more on this later). Adam was crafted to bear God’s own image and physical form. Could he have just called Adam into existence like the rest of the creation? Yes, he could – but His Word says he chose to form Adam from the earth. Thus we learn that man

  • was lovingly and carefully hand crafted by God
  • was infused with life from God’s own breath to become a living soul
  • bears the image of God
  • stands out from the rest of creation because he bears the image of God

The Making of WOMAN – Eve

Genesis 2:20… but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him. 21 So Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. 22 And Yahweh God fashioned the rib, which He had taken from the man, into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said,

“This one finally is bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
This one shall be called Woman (Hebrew: ishah),
Because this one was taken out of Man (Hebrew: ish).”

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Genesis 3:20 Now the man named his wife Eve, because she was the mother of all the living.

The Bible tells us that the first woman was also uniquely created. Eve:

  • Was lovingly hand crafted by God using a part of the man
  • Completed the man.
  • While it is not mentioned, she would also have had to be infused with life from God’s own breath to become a living soul.
  • Bore the image of God

Genders

When God created our first parents, he created only 2 genders:

  • Man = MALE
  • Woman = FEMALE

The idea that there are genders beyond Man (male) and Woman (female) is contrary to the record of the Bible and that of many other ancient cultures and religions. The idea that a person can choose his or her own gender, is a very modern construct which has led to the identity crisis and ideological violence in the 21st century.
